Battery draining rapidly in MacBook Air 2020

Facts: I have a Macbook Air (2020). I notice now that the battery goes very quickly even when im doing absolutely nothing on it. Something like 100-95% battery in under a minute. Also, I have this thing that's been going on where the only way for me to turn on the macbook is by pressing the power button.

example: I put it to sleep. I press the spacebar to hopefully turn it on - it wont. The only way to turn it back on is if I press the power button.

issue: is this normal? and if its not, is there a fix?

I'd recommend you check your battery health and cycle count: Determine battery cycle count for Mac laptops - Apple Support. Your battery's maximum cycle count is rated for 1000 cycles, and if you're nearing that, or your Mac says service recommended, contact Apple Support for battery service options: Mac Repair and Service - Apple Support.

oh yeah its been saying service recommended for quite some time now. also, my mac overheats...like a lot.

example: i turn it on after shutting it down. A minute goes buy and I feel the mac getting hot. for doing absolutely nothing.

question: is this also normal?

Thanks for confirming! If your Mac says service recommended, battery performance will be degraded until you have Apple service the battery.
