CarPlay iOS 18 Fix (2018 GMC IntelliLink)

My iPhone 16 Pro would not connect to the IntelliLink to enable CarPlay on my 2018 GMC Sierra. I'm running iOS 18.5 and I have tried everything under the sun in every single forum post, Reddit post, video, etc.

The least intuitive thing fixed it for me. I plugged in a known good USB-A to USB-C cable, that transfers data, which was my PS5 controller cable. I got the PS5 cable tip from a Reddit post.

However, when I plugged it in, nothing happened. I about lost it.

The Solution



Out of a fit of rage, I pressed the Home icon on my hud. I then pressed Navigation thinking it would bring up the crappy built in compass. Nope, a message popped up that said something along the line of "Your iPhone will display on the screen. Do you want to enable CarPlay?" I pressed accept, continue, or whatever it was and voilà, it brought up the CarPlay screen.

I tested it with all of the other 6 cables I was trying with, and every single one worked.

I hope someone comes across this and can finally resolve their troubleshooting nightmare.
