How can I remote control my photos slideshow on iPad?

It works seamlessly on Apple TV using Remote App on my AppleWatch. But how can I do the same on iPad? Just want to slide through an a photo album on iPad using Remote App on my AppleWatch? Remote App does not establish a connection to iPad. So is there another app that does the trick? Thanks.
