Messages Indexing on Mac

Hi All,

I have been searching on here and on Reddit for a while now and still have yet to find a solution that works to the messages indexing problem. I am currently running a MacBook Pro 2020 M1 on Sequoia 15.4.

I recently enabled my messages in iCloud and have ample storage (100 G of messages / 2TB storage). However, I do not have iCloud enabled for messages on my iPhone. This allows me to have all my messages stored on Mac, including the ones I have started from my iPhone. If I want to delete a message thread off my phone, I can, but I can still have it saved on my Mac.

Now, the issue is that since I have enabled iCloud on my Mac, I cannot search messages from more than 1-2 months ago or find any photos or links that I have shared or received in a thread. I see the following message:

I am 100% sure I have threads in which this keyword has been used.

I have tried disabling iCloud for messages and this doesn't seem to work. However, for whatever messages I do have saved on my iPhone, I can still access the photos and keyword search.

Is there any updated/official method of resolving the messages indexing problem? Or is this an issue of outdated hardware and should I consider an upgrade or restoring my Mac from backup?
