imessage not letting me add person to group chat

All three people in the group chat are using iPhones ios 18.5

Keep getting "Create a New Group? Contacts not using iMessage can only be added to a new MMS group with the same members" despite all of us using iMessage.

Group chat used to work fine before it added my contact twice, now everything's out of whack.

iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 18

Even if all of you guys use iMessage on iPhones, the conversation can still turn into MMS/SMS if any of you have a poor connection, issues with your carrier, or iMessage turned off as some examples. In that case it wouldn’t allow you to add members to a group chat. I would check with the conversation recipients and ensure everything is working on their sides.
