How can I restore the missing Safari option in Google Classroom’s "Open with" prompt?

In google classroom, whenever I pressed onto a link a link (such as google.com), there would be a popup with a title ‘Open with’. Underneath it, there were 4 options, google, chrome, safari and default browser. However, just a few days ago, the safari option disappeared. I find myself -though I do not want to admit it- frustrated over not being able to get used to it. The safari option had always been a feature where I could keep my browser clean and tidy. Is this permanent and unchangeable? And if not, please can you tell me how can I change it back to how it was? Thank you.

Re: How can I restore the missing Safari option in Google Classroom’s "Open with" prompt?

You might want to check your Settings to see whether you have accidentally made Safari your default browser,

(ie: making "Open with" unnecessary for Safari)

Apple Support's article: Change your default apps for features on iPhone and iPad - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Change default apps on iPhone and iPad

Default Apps settings requires iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 or later.

  1. Go to Settings > Apps.
  2. Tap Default Apps at the top of the list of your apps.
  3. Tap a feature to change your default setting to a different app.
  4. After choosing a new default app, you might have to follow additional onscreen steps.

In some cases, only one app at a time can be the default app for a feature. In other cases, you’re able to prioritize the apps that your device uses for a feature. If you don’t see an option to set a particular app as the default for a feature, contact the app developer."

Else: For third-party (non-Apple) software:

If there's a problem within the Google classroom app itself, you may need to contact the app-developer

Thank you for your reply Wondering which browser is set as the default browser ... ie: If you just click any safe link in an email, which browser opens the link ?

Your choice for the default browser is in Settings > Default apps > Browser app

The default could be Safari, Google, Chrome, or any browser that is is installed.

If Safari is not already the default app, it should appear on the "Open with" menu.

As Google, Google classroom and gmail are all Google's, it could be a Google issue.

Other than gmail, am not familiar with Google's apps myself.
