Speakers connected to external headphone port stopped workin on my Mac Studio. Built in Mac Studio speakers work and so does the Studio Display Speakers. I have tested the speakers on other sources and they work. Using a set of headphones attached to the external headphone port also does not work. Is there a way I can get the port to work?
Mac Studio, macOS 15.5
1) Make sure the speakers or headphone jack is fully inserted into the Mac's headphone port.
2) Open Settings > Sound > Output and check to see if the external headphone output is selectable.
3) If those things do not help, take the Mac Studio to your local Apple Store or AASP and have it checked out.
There are two possible ways for this to NOT work -- software, and the hardware of the mechanical jack.
The old-fashioned brute-force way to coax the mechanical part of a headphone jack to cooperate was to insert and remove the headphone plug into at the jack, a bit roughly, a dozen times. This sometimes cleared corrosion and made the jack behave properly.
