I can't receive group messages while in Uruguay

I live in Uruguay, moved there from the US about 4 months ago. I have both a US number (Verizon) as well as a local UY account and number (with Antel, the national carrier). The US line is turned off, voice and data runs over the UY line. My iPhone is a 16 Pro (purchased in the US), iOS 18.5.

I can text with American friends. One of them added me with the UY number to a group, and I do not receive the group messages.

I can't find any settings that may prevent this, am I overlooking something?

MMS would need to be enabled and provisioned by your phone carrier.
