RAW (DNG) files copied to PC cannot be edited

I took a lot of photos recently using my iPhone 16 pro using the RAW format. I copied the files to my pc where they were saved with dng extension. While I can view the photos on my pc, I cannot edit them. I have tried everything. I was on the phone with Apple Support for over an hour, they couldn't help. On the phone with Microsoft support for over an hour, no help. The software I use which opens dng files, cannot edit the photos - they are still looking into why the files cannot be read. I have tried to upload the files directly from my phone to a dng converter and other photo software only to receive an error message that the file could not be processed. While Apple Support did come up with a way that I could convert a photo to jpeg that software can read the files, it must me done photo by photo sharing it with files and converting within the files function. For over 1,000 photos, that would take forever. While emailing the photos converts the dng files to jpeg, they cannot be processed. Can't believe that I am the only one running into this problem!
