How can I stop deleted Apple passwords from reappearing on all my devices?

Hi Apple Community. So I have begun the daunting task of cleaning up and securing my passwords a little better (800+ had the resused or comprimised designation). So on my Macbook I started the process. Changing and deleting various passwords. But when I opened up my iPad, it put all the ones I had deleted back on my Macbook Apple Passwords and I had to start that part over. How do I prevent this from happening because ultimately I do want them to sync of course.

If iCloud Keychain hasn’t fully synced yet, those deleted passwords might reappear, which sounds like is what is occurring.

To prevent this from happening, you’ll want to make sure that iCloud Keychain is properly syncing across all your devices.

Try checking your iCloud settings to ensure that Keychain is enabled on both your MacBook and iPad. On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud, and make sure Keychain is checked. On your iPad, go to Settings > Your Name > iCloud, and ensure Keychain is on.

Next, give it some time to sync. If you’re still having trouble, a quick restart of both devices can sometimes help the syncing process. If that doesn’t work, signing out of iCloud on both devices and signing back in can help clear up any syncing issues.

Lastly, if you’re managing a large number of passwords, you might want to use the Passwords section in iCloud Keychain on your Mac to confirm that deletions are being reflected.
