How can I delete empty EOS Canon folders from iCloud?

In the past, I have used the EOS Canon Connect app for Windows to transfer files to iCloud. In cleaning up my iCloud files, I now see hundreds of empty EOS Canon folders that do NOT delete, no matter how many times I try. However, it seems they do NOT appear when using my PHOTOS app. How can I delete these empty folders from my online iCloud account? Yes, I turn off the sync for iPad and iPhone when attempting to delete these folders. It takes a lot of time to scroll through all these empty folders when searching for pics while using iCloud.

There was a community q/A panel but it is closed now. However, this is a persistent problem.

Help is appreciated.

To delete the undeletable empty Canon folders from your iCloud Drive, the most effective solution is to act from the source of the problem: a Windows PC. Install the latest "iCloud for Windows" app from the Microsoft Store, open your iCloud Drive directly in File Explorer (not the website), and delete the folders from there, as the local client often has more authority to resolve sync errors. If that fails, try the "container" trick: create one new folder on iCloud Drive, move all the empty Canon folders into it, and then attempt to delete that single parent folder.

If the issue still persists, it indicates a server-side permissions glitch requiring you to contact Apple Support; to get effective help, specify that your issue is with iCloud Drive (not Photos) caused by a third-party Windows app and ask for your case to be escalated to a senior advisor.
