Hello, my 2013 iMac monitor now has a rainbow round edge border and striped vertical lines down the middle within that border. It looks very strange!
any idea what this is and whether it can be fixed or is it game over for my machine?

A 2013 iMac is quite old and should be recycled. Hopefully you have a Time Machine backup (or bootable clone backup) so that your data is safe adn you can migrate easily to a new Mac. Support for your 2013 was dropped some years ago and cannot run current versions of Mac OS. Please call it a day and plan on purchasing its’ replacement. You can use Apple’s free recycling program to recycle the 2013.

I think your iMac LCD is something wrong. You would need replace the screen at apple service centre or Apple Authorized Service Centre.
Anyway you should contact Apple Support to ask about the circumstance you face with now.
