I opened a text on my Iphone but did not select any link. When I closed it due to probable spam, I immediately received a spam call from the area code the text was from. I have allow read messages turned off. Is there something else I need to do?

My guess is that the scammers sent the text, waited a minute, then called. If you have read receipts disabled, they can’t tell if you’ve opened the message.
