facetime eye contact can’t be turned off

The eye contact filter feature for facetime is always off for me yet it’s almost always on when i’m on facetime, i go in again to check my facetime settings and the eye contact option is turned off. i can’t seem to find any other forums but have seen people have the same problem without their questions being answered
