"Next" button is disabled when trying to add bank cards for Apple Pay on Mac

When attempting to add my credit cards to Apple Pay on my mac, I am not able to click the "Next" button on the dialog screen which asks "Do you want to add [credit card] to your Mac?" It is completely greyed out.

In the previous screen the existing cards linked to my account do show up - "select cards to use with Apple Pay". But for some reason, I cannot select "Next" on any of the cards in the next view.

I have no idea what's going on. It was definitely tied to an upgrade. This has been an ongoing issue for a year now. The only bank card that was added without issues was my Apple Card. With "Next" greyed out, I cannot add any credit cards for Apple Pay on my Mac. For now, I am stuck with making purchases via my phone, and i miss the nice experience of using Apple Pay on my mac.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Wondering where you encounter that dialog screen with "Next"

and

Whether you tried using the method Apple Support suggests in the linked article below:

Set up Apple Pay - Apple Support (If already tried: Please see the trouble-shooting article at the bottom)

Eg: says:

________________________

To use Apple Pay, you need:

Find out if your country/region supports Apple Pay.

To check whether your card is compatible with Apple Pay, contact your card issuer."

"How to add a debit or credit card for Apple Pay on your Mac,

  1. On your device, open Wallet & Apple Pay settings.
    • On your Mac model with Touch ID, go to System Settings (or System Preferences) > Wallet & Apple Pay.

2.Select Add Card (NB: See note 3 and 4 below)

note 3. In China mainland, you can only use Apple Pay on the web in Safari

on compatible iPhone and iPad models using iOS 11.2 or later.

note 4. In Italy, you can't add Maestro cards to iPad or Mac.

In Australia, you can't add eftpos cards to your iPad or Mac.

In the Netherlands, you can add Maestro cards to all compatible devices except Mac.

3.Follow the steps on the screen to add a card.

4.Verify your information with your bank or card issuer. They might ask you to provide information.

On Mac models without built-in Touch ID, you can complete your purchase using Apple Pay on your compatible iPhone or Apple Watch: On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay and turn on Allow Payments on Mac.
