itunes does not see my ipod

I have an old win 10 laptop --- it is update to date with all updates

I have itunes version 12.13.7.1 installed

I can play tracks on the computer with out issue, but when I plug in the ipod, I don't see the ipod icon in the itunes windows --- The ipod is connected as a usb drive and I can see and browse the files on it with the system/file explorer I ran the diagnostics and the image notes the statues

I did a window's "repair" for itunes but noting changed --- items in the picture remained the same ---

Any suggestions?
