Trying to record voice overs in FCP but as soon as I press stop, it disappears from the timeline.
Work around is to export to iMovie, do the voiceover and then export back into FCP.
Any ideas?

Send the FCP dev team your feedback via Final Cut Pro->Provide Final Cut Pro Feedback... or use this link Feedback - Final Cut Pro - Apple
It's not helpful but I have an M2 and M4 mini using Sequoia 15.5 and FCP 11.1.1 and neither exhibit that problem.
So it would appear there is something different about your setup . . . maybe some dodgy app like CleanMyMac or Chrome?
