Keynote audio marker stuck during re-recording on Mac

I am trying to re-record audio for my keynote slide. It records fine when i do it without a mistake. If I make a mistake and want to re-record over the mistake it records but when I play it back again to listen the marker stops at the point where I started the re-recording and does not move forward. I have tried restarting, using the safe mode and nothing works. A message comes after restarting the i mac and opening the keynote file that the audio may be damaged . Help
