Pixel anomalies can come from a variety of causes. The graphics chip may getting the wrong commands from the software that is running, to the hinge of the display being overextended. The latter is often due to the cause of people either being unaware the resistence to putting back the display is deliberate to avoid overstretching the hinge and causing the cables in the hinge to fray, or bumps or drops where the display cables or connections get jarred, or power surges.
