Sorry, I had the wrong Mac. A 2020 or later MacBook Pro can be upgraded to the current version of Sequoia macOS 15. See: How to upgrade to macOS Sequoia - Apple Support
and I personally would upgrade any of those.

All Apple Silicon (M-series) Macs released to date can run macOS 15 (Sequoia), and will be able to run macOS 26 (Tahoe) when Apple releases it this fall. Including your M3 MacBook Air.
2018 and later MacBook Pros can be upgraded to macOS Sequoia. I would definitely upgrade a 2024 (and even a 2018) model.
Thank you for your endorsement of MacBook Pros for upgrade.
