MacOS stuck at downloading from a boot drive

I bought a Macbook Pro from mid 2010, it was showing the folder icon upon booting, changed the sata cable, now it detects a drive, I am trying to install High Sierra but it always gets stuck either at this point or like 3/4 way to the end, I don’t know what I am doing wrong, then it says it could not be installed on my computer.. What should I do? The diagnostics said everything is okay

try installing 10.11 El Captain FIRST.

El Capitan is the oldest that can get on the internet, and will allow you to use more advanced tools to obtain High Sierra, if desired.

The diagnostics NEVER say everything is ok.

They say, "using a severely limited pre-selected set of tests, in the minuscule time allowed to testing, no GROSS errors could be detected".

That is a little re-assuring, but FAR from "everything is OK".
