Why is there not some kind of warning about losing contacts, reminders, or calendar details when outlook password hasn't been updated?

Twice this has happened to me now: I updated my work Outlook password in my iphone in apps\reminders, and suddenly I lost all the reminders that were added to my work Outlook account. Then I updated my personal Outlook account password, and that wiped out hundreds of my contacts!!! I don't even know how to save contacts in separate accounts. HORRIBLE DESIGN. MAJOR FLAW.

This information was never backed up to icloud - why, I can only speculate, but what a terrible malfunction of the supposed integrated of apps with iphone.

To avoid this in the future, I've removed the ability of my Outlook accounts to save reminders or contacts, forcing (I guess) all of them to be saved in icloud.

iPhone SE, iOS 18

Your issue is with Microsoft not Apple, since you were syncing your data there.

Or ask your IT administrator why it is happening.

Never seen anyone lose any data from just updating or changing their password for an Outlook account.
