Photos in Monterrey 12.7.6 - disable autostart when camera is plugged into USB?

As noted - older iMac *(late '15) running Monterrey. There used to be a way to disable Photos from auto starting when a camera was plugged into a USB port. For reference, I use Canon cameras. I want to use Canon Camera Connect to download and control my cameras, but Photos auto starting causes an error in Camera Connect. Can Photos autostart be disabled like I was able to do in the past? Thanks for any assistance!

iMac 21.5″, macOS 12.7

If I remember this correctly, connect your camera, then open Photos. Select your camera (device) in the left pane and then DEselect the "Open Photos for this device" checkbox.
