Can't change gmail password ios 18.5 Apple Mail app

According to lore there is meant to be a field for Re-Enter Password, or just a "Password" field but in Account Settings I see two headings:

Gmail Account Information

I see my name and my email address -- no field for entering or changing a password.

Outgoing Mail Server

I see Gmail SMTP server ➜ Primary Server -- I see the Server is active but fields for entering username and password say "optional" and are greyed out.

Where oh where can I change my password so i can get gmail on my phone in Apple Mail.

If you don't see the option, then delete the account and re-add it with the new password.
