Siri asks if I want to reply before reading the text

The Siri on my mom's older phone (iPhone 8) used to read her texts and THEN ask her if she wants to reply. In the last few days, it says "you have two new messages, would you like to reply?" We have tried everything in settings. Anyone else having this issue?

Siri not reading back messages I recently updated to IOS 16.1.1. Previously if I said “hey Siri” and dictated a text message, she would read it back to me first, and then ask “send?” Now she just asks “send?” without reading it back first. Checked all the relevant settings on my phone, but can’t find anything to make her read back messages to me before sending. Thinking this may be a bug in the most recent update? Can anyone help?

Siri saying no new messages I just bought an IPhone 14 Pro Max. Siri keeps saying I have no new messages when I ask her to read them. I still have the notification numbers of new messages to read. I have even set siri to be used when phone is locked and even set messages to preview. Not sure what is going on. Need help resolving this issue.

Since an iPhone 8 has a home button with Touch ID, you should force restart:

Press and release the volume up button.
Press and release the volume down button.
Press and hold the side button.
When the Apple logo appears, release the button.
