Once you have a working MacOS with at least Safari 9, then you can use the links in this article to obtain a later version from the Mac App Store. ONLY the links in this article will provide the App Store versions -- the software has otherwise been "put away" to avoid downloading "by accident".

How to download and install macOS - Apple Support

Remember that the disk structure changes dramatically as you upgrade.

MacOS 10.13 adds simple APFS structures such as a container-disk to the boot SSD drive.

MacOS 10.14 Mojave requires a graphics card with Metal support.

MacOS 10.15 Catalina adds additional disk structures including Volume Groups. In addition, all Apps must support 64-bit execution, so older software may not run.

MacOS 11 Big Sur includes the signed, crypto-locked Virtual System Volume. This System can no longer be restored from backup, it must be re-installed from fundamental sources. (Once System is installed, you can ADD back your Time Machine Backup files easily.)

what you see is residue of OpenCore or a similar aftermarket boot loader. This can be used to force-load even later versions of MacOS than what Apple supports, and try to run them.

Your Mac is supported to run up to and including MacOS 12 Monterey, so there is no need for that stuff.

To remove it, reset the PRAM:

hold down the following keys (and be prepared to continue to hold them) immediately at startup:

Command-Option-P-R

continue to hold four keys until you have heard the startup chime four times.

Then you are free, and should fall onto Recovery

Recovery can be used to re-install the "shipped in the box" version of MacOS, or the 'best equivalent', possibly MacOS 10.10 Yosemite. if it re-installs MacOS 10.10 Yosemite, immediately after setup, apply ALL available Software Updates. This will include Safari 9, which is the oldest MacOS that can make a secure internet connection. If it installs MacOS 10.11 El Capitan, that can already make Internet connections.
