Reset passwords revert to old passwords in the Passwords app

I spent hours yesterday resettings passwords that had been compromised in a data leak. I methodically went through and used the Passwords app to generate unique, secure passwords and updated them site by site, and ensure those updates were saved in the Passwords app.

I opened Passwords app today and none of the changes appear to have been saved.

Anyone else experienced this?

Passwords app and previous passwords I think I’ve seen others with this issue already, but I wanted to vent my frustration that the Passwords app does not appear to give you access to previous passwords. Even assuming that nothing breaks on Apple’s side with updates to a password from the browser, some websites are not entirely ‘Apple Passwords Compatible’… For instance, I’ve just had it that my uni website reported a fault while processing a password change. This is reported after attempting the password change (after I clicked the ‘yes please update the stored password in my passwords app’). And now I am locked out. It seems absurd that I need to copy and record a password elsewhere before updating in the app in case stuff breaks. Am I doing something wrong (other than presuming that the app would work)?

Some passwords are missing in Passwords app after iOS 18.1.1 update Hello, just found out that new password app didn’t take / save all from the old passwords during ios update. Big surpise was that for some of the old passwords there’s just comment ”never saved”. Another problem is that some of the sites are show’n only partially. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Password app does not remember updated passwords! This security issue has been driving me crazy for years and I thought only a major upgrade would solve it, but iOS 18.1.1 is still the same! When I get security warnings in the Password App I take it seriously and use the link to change the compromised password immediately. The Password app opens a smaller window to the relevant site where I can then change my password. It’s a great idea to be able to change any compromised password from the app where they are all stored. However, it never ever works through the Password app, the new password is never saved from within the app and I’m invariably locked out of my accounts and websites. I then have to recover/change my password using normal methods, (going to the main website, logging in to my account, re-saving the password, logout and login again to save in the iPad Password app again)! What do I need to do to get the Password app to save the changed password from within the app? I’ve seen other people with the same issue, but no answers on why this very important security feature does not work, please help, it drives me crazy!
