ESIM not working on ipad

Hello all,

I am currently trying to get access to internet on an iPad for the organisation I work for. Despite internet and official sources saying that the model has wifi + cellular (iPad Pro 11 inches 4th generation) and making sure the device is at the latest update possible, cellular data doesn’t appear in the Settings. Trying to use a qr code from the cellular company to activate it also does nothing when scanned. Any advice?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 18

Was the iPad originally purchased directly from Apple, or through a Cellular Carrier?

Some Cellular Carriers are known to either disable the eSIM - or subsidy-lock the iPad to that specific Carrier. A disabled eSIM may be permanent, whereas a subsidy-lock can sometimes be removed by the supplying Carrier.

Removal of a subsidy-lock, if applicable, is often only possible when a minimum contractual service period has expired - and/or upon payment of an administrative fee.
