How do I add or delete music on iPod nano without iCloud Library option?

I have an iPod nano and I want to add new music to it for my 6-year-old granddaughter, she loves to sing and listen to music but it says that i need to enable the iCloud library on the nano and i don't see that option anywhere - can someone assist me in adding new music and deleting the old music off the iPod.
