My mum has locked her iPad and I’m trying to unlock it for her but she can’t remember her password (she had a stroke). Is there any way I can unlock her iPad for her without her password or what can I do to help.

Did she forget her Apple Account password or her iPad’s passcode?
For the passcode see the following support document.

Then you’ll need to get access to her account first, then you can reset the passcode.

Your other option, is to contact Apple Support and request access to her account. The following support document describes how to do that for deceased relatives, but you may be able to follow it for her too.
