Lossless takes up a LOT of storage so I wanna download in high quality but apparently songs downloaded in high quality don’t play in lossless.

Yes, but if you have downloaded a non-lossless version, it will play that version rather than streaming a different version. That is what this part of your screenshot is saying:

There is only one setting, and it applies to downloading and streaming:
"High quality" can mean a lot of things. If you are talking about downloads from the iTunes Store, they are in AAC/256 format, which is not lossless but is pretty darn good quality. :-)
I’m talking about the “high quality” download setting in Apple Music settings. I know it’s still good quality, but I like lossless for when I’m using my wired stereo setup. But otherwise don’t need it since I use AirPods when away from home hence why I wanted to download in high quality but stream lossless
I don’t think we’re on the same page here. There’s a setting for downloads, a setting for 5G and WiFi and a setting for cell
We are now. What I’m asking with this post is if there’s a way to get around that because it’s stupid.
Is there a way to make Apple Music play in lossless over WiFi if it’s downloaded in high quality?
