My iMac is loading very slowly

My iMac loads very slow. Technician says it’s not worth fixing. I did a EntreCheck Pro -says hard drive appears to be failing. S.M.A.R.T. Status is verified. Anything I can do to avoid purchasing a new one? (My data is backed up on iCloud)

What year iMac is that?

You can consider installing macOS on an external SSD and using that as a startupdrive.

Again, what model and year is your iMac?

Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?

Can you post the full Etrecheck report using the "Additional Text" button:

It it's older than a 2017 model I'd seriously consider getting a new Mac.

If budget is a concern know that I just got a Mac Mini M4 with 15 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD with a 32" LG 4k monitor w/speakers for $1418 w/tax which was $650 less than a similarly configured new 24" iMac.
