Why are Safari downloads not saving to iCloud Drive on iPad?

To the OP and ALL those Affected…

This seems to be catching on, big time. So,…

Report this to Apple:

Do your part: Let Apple know what is going on here. Provide them with feedback on this. They may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they received on this, the more they will know what is going on, and what needs to be fixed in updates to come.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPad - Apple
  2. Comment: on when this all began, and how you’ve troubleshot this, thus far. Include the URL of this thread.
  3. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  4. Proceed from there aw necessary

"From what I understand this started somewhere in May. Maybe after some of the 18.X iOS update. Obviously I have checked all of the settings, and nothing helped so far."

Report this:

Why no fix? Probably because there are not enough reports. So, get the word out by reporting it, as I mentioned. This time, however, using the Safari feedback link, rather than the iPad one that I provided.

I have the same issue on iPhone 15 Pro (iOS 18.5): all downloaded files are not saved to "Downloads" or any other directory. Instead downloaded files are kept in the "Downloads" section of Safari, and I have to save every downloaded file manually to Files app. This is simply exhausting when you have 30+ report files to save.

From what I understand this started somewhere in May. Maybe after some of the 18.X iOS update.

Obviously I have checked all of the settings, and nothing helped so far.

Yes, it is very strange. I have my downloads location set to iCloud/Downloads. And yet, I don’t see my recent downloads going there. I tried searching both the iPad and iCloud for specific files recently downloaded and couldn’t find them. The only place I see them is in the recent downloads for Safari (using the down arrow button).
