Is there a fix for the iPhone 12 mini camera focus issue?

Have you the latest iOS iOS 18.5? If so, you might want to try to force restart your iPhone to see if the issues persist

1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
3. Press and hold the side button.
4. When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.

Did you tell Apple that you were having a problem, because this is a user to user support forum and Apple does not participate here, so they don't see your statement "I don't understand why Apple hasn't fixed this." Either report it by contacting Support, using the feedback link, Feedback - iPhone - Apple or making a Genius Bar appointment to have your device checked. They can explain your options.

As far as other brands, you are free to choose whatever brand/device works best for you. I'm sure you are aware though that other brands have issues as well.
