When one buys both FCPro for ipad and desktop.

There isn't one.

The Mac application is a direct purchase. You pay once, and the app is licensed for you to use on every mac that you own and control, no further payments.

The iPad one is a subscription - I think $4.99 a month or so.

That’s a shame, Luis. I bought the desktop version of FCP. I have one desktop machine and the other is an iPad.

The iPad app is £49 per year or, as you said, $4.99 a month. But the iPad version lacks a lot of functionality.

The incentive to buy both isn’t quite there for me — I mean, buying one and renting the other.

You currently can't unlink audio from video in iOS or move clips around the timeline freely.

The iPad does have audio scrubbing (which is cool with the Pencil), but that’s a standard feature in all desktop video editing programs.

Perhaps you can elucidate me, as I don't see the point of using FCP on iPad when you have a Mac. It's not just that the Mac version is superior, the Mac platform is tailored for editing video, with great support for external drives, and displays, lots of RAM, and disk space.

Editing video on a 11" display, on a pinch, maybe, but for serious editing you'd probably bring it to the Mac, anyway.

Call me skeptic, if you will, but I can't really see the point of editing on an iPad.

The iPad is great for some things, but in my mind, video editing is not one of them.

Kind of simple really your probably sitting at home in front a monitor ? i am currently in an airport heading over sea’s - a normal week here. :) but yes your completely correct small screen sucks and not ideal situation.

I'd get a laptop. And connect it to an external monitor at home for more screen area, if necessary. Best of both worlds.
