Why did my iPhone playlists disappear after backup?

I have just connected my iPhone 15 Pro to my MacBook to back up some photos and it has removed all of my Music playlists i had on my iPhone, it has also reset the play history for the past year. Why would connecting my Mac to my iPhone not keep the iPhone files? The music was a combination of downloaded and uploaded songs and albums. The back up started as soon as i connected the iPhone to the mac!

Music Playlists Are Suddenly Empty Earlier today, I was trying to hard-sync my iphone with my Music library. I realized that the "Sync Library" setting was on (not sure why) and so I turned it off. When I did that, two things happened. First, the music files on my phone were all deleted (no big deal, they're on my MacBook). Second, some playlists on my MacBook have had all the songs deleted; the playlists are still there (the titles at least) but the songs are not included. It appears to have only impacted the playlists that were on my phone at the time; other playlists are normal, just as they were. I would like to get those playlists back. Any thoughts?
