Unable to open RAR files after updating Unarchiver to 4.3.9 on macOS 12.3.1

I downloaded several rar files over night. When I klicked on the to open them there came an unarchiver popup telling me there was an update. I clicked on it, waited for installation, restarted the imac and the tried to open the rar files I had downloaded. Unarchiver does not open. I have a 12.3.1 OS, and updated to unarchiver 4.3.9.

What must I do to fix the problem?

Thank you, that is quite helpful, and confirms my own suspicions. However, I would like to stay on Monterey because I have to many VSLs and programs that would probably not survive the update to the current OS. But updating even to Monterey 12.7.6. could do the job. Where can I find an update for that? Plus, is it possible to reinstall an earlier version of the Unarchiver, so that it runs again on my current OS?

The update is only an upDate to the Current Monterey

It does Not UpGrade to computer to say macOS 13 Ventura or anything newer

Monterey macOS 12.3.1 ( 21E258 ) was released Mar 31, 2022 - 3 Years ago

How to get old versions of macOS

Safari will open a redirect and open the Apple Store where the download can commence.

Suggest having at least 50 GB of Empty Space on the drive.

It will allow the Full Version ( about 12.xx GB ) to download, then expand and then commence to install.

If there is Third Party Security Software installed - remove it.

It will interfere with both the download and installation process.

You can update your Monterey v12.3.1 to 12.7.6 via System Preferences > Software Update. If your Mac cannot update beyond Monterey, then you will the 12.7.6 update available to install. If the Mac is recent enough to offer a newer version of macOS than Monterey, scroll downward to locate:

Another update is available

More Info…

Click on the More Info and you will see macOS Monterey v12.7.6 offered for installation. Click the associated install button and only that update will be applied to your Mac.

MacPaw is responsible for The Unarchiver, so after the update, if v4.3.9 does not open those RAR files, contact the developer.

From what I can find

The latest version of Unarchiver is 4.3.9

Not sure if running Monterey macOS version 12.3.1 is related

But the most current version of macOS 12 Monterey is 12.7.6

Suggest updating the computer and see if that fixes the other issue

Thank you, that is quite helpful, and confirms my own suspicions.
