Are Microfiber cloths safe for MacBook Air keyboard when closed?

Are microfiber cloths safe to use to cover the keyboard when closed on an MacBook Air M4 13"?

I currently have a thin keyboard cover on it when does not seem to touch the screen when closed, but I have been told a microfiber cloth covering the keys instead is safer.

Why would you need a keyboard cover? Do not use a keyboard cover.

You shouldn't use anything on the keyboard when it's closed. You may think it's not touching the screen but it is. It can also stress the hinges.

Wash your hands before using the keyboard and don't eat while using the computer.

Yes, it will not hurt the Mac. This is one of those things that is a pretty straightforward answer.

Just like with anything else, being gentle with it & taking care of things gets you a long way. You should be just fine to continue to cover it with a cloth.

Do not use a keyboard cover.

I was using the keyboard cover because cleaning the Mac laptop keys was difficult. The machine starts up when you hit a key even though the machine is off. But with the microfiber cloth, that should absorb any grease on the keys.

How are you getting grease on the keys? Wash your hands before using the computer if your hands are greasy.
