Is my child bypassing iPhone parental controls?

Dear, I've been using for several months the parental control on my iphone with my daughter. I set up some limitations for certain apps: eg 30min for Safari and separately 20min for YT and YT Kinds (see below settings on screen shot). But my daughter uses these apps every day much more. Parental control does not work! Do you know why? Should I setup something differently?

There are some common issues with Screen Time limits, for example:

  • App limits might not be applied correctly if YouTube is blocked via app limit, but it is accessed via Safari or another browser
  • This thread has some more info: Screen Time and Safari - Apple Community
  • If Safari or YouTube is set as an "Always Allowed" in screen time, it wouldn't be restricted during Downtime or after app limits are reached
  • During downtime, certain apps (like safari) might remain accessible unless explicitly blocked.
  • Make sure to set specific App Limits for Safari, YouTube, and YouTube Kids with "Block at End of Limit" selected.

Be aware that if you are using Screen Time in a Family setting, there might be conflicting setups from the Family members setting up Screen Time.

Sadly, there are known bugs and glitches with iOS screen time. Hoping for one of the next iOS updates to address it.

Hope this helps :-)
