Unable to drag and drop files on my iMac with macOS 15.3.2

I'm using an iMac 2023 15.3.2 and suddenly after countless dragging and dropping files...(I've been on the computer all morning)...all of a sudden It wont let me drag and drop.

This is very frustrating and annoying.

Can anybody help?

Thanks in advance

Have you restarted your Mac lately?

Rebooting is the best first step in troubleshooting.

If a simple reboot of your Mac doesn’t fix things, see if the problem still happens in safe mode.

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Safe mode will often correct weird software behavior by forcing the OS to clear caches, do disk repair and other housekeeping and temporarily disables third-party mods.

Does the same thing happen while in Safe mode?

You can exit safe mode by restarting your Mac normally, then reevaluate the problem.

Great, thanks, lets see how this does for a start...

Delete these files & restart...

/Library/LaunchAgents/com.adobe.GC.AGM.plist

/Library/LaunchAgents/com.adobe.GC.Invoker-1.0.plist

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.expressvpn.tun.plist

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.expressvpn.tap.plist

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.adobe.agsservice.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.adobe.AAM.Updater-1.0.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.skype.skype.shareagent.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.adobe.GC.Invoker-1.0.plist

~ tilde indicates your home folder

Apple hid the Users' Library folders...

Method 1:

1 From the Finder, select the Go menu at top of the screen, and choose Go to Folder.

2 In the window that opens, enter ~/Library, and click Go.

Or…

Use the Command-Shift-period

Thanks BDAqua...In the meantime I restarted to get out of safe mode.

Ok...then I deleted the files as per your suggestion...despite my ignorance of what I'm deleting.

So far I've noticed no repercussions to the deleted files and drag and drop seems to be working.

I'll keep you posted if the problem comes up again.

Thanks for your response and suggestions.

The same thing is happening again since my first post (29/4/2025).

In the meantime I have upgraded to 15.4.1 which seemed to fix the issue...however it suddenly stopped the other day. Relaunching finder works two or three times... then I'm back to square one.

Restarting is also a very temporary fix...after a few drag and drops...it stops working.

I have rebooted yesterday in safe mode and so far there is no drag and drop problem.

where do I go to from here?

Thanks in advance.
