Opening Appleworks and Clarisworks docs on Mac running OS 10.11.16

I have important work docs I want to save but they are in clarisworks and appleworks from an older mac more or less 1999 and 2013-14 and I never saved them in another text format. I currently have an iMac Pro running El Capitan. What can I use to convert them to modern text files?

Possibly an older, unsupported version of LibreOffice (4.3.x.x)?

Whatever you do, make sure that you have backup copies of all important files, and that you only are working on extra copies.

You want LibreOffice v7.2.7.2 (installer download link) for macOS El Capitan 10.11.6. LibreOffice v7.3 required macOS Sierra (10.12).

The degree to which you integrated different document features of ClarisWorks/AppleWorks will determine how well LibreOffice resolves that content when opened. I recommend that you use LibreOffice's Open File menu to select the CW/AW documents.
