How do I reduce the width of Apple Music display on my MacBook Pro?

the apple music (1.3.6.14) display keeps getting wider. it used to cover half the width of the screen (macbook pro, M1, 2020, 13.7.1) and could not be made more narrow. now it is 2/3rds the width and still cannot be made narrower, unless someone out there has a solution. what's worse, apple stuck useless graphics on the top of all playlists so half the vertical space for working with the playlist is gone. at most i can see ~16 songs at once, but not the entire list. apple just keeps getting more user-unfriendly. the playlists on my iphone 12mini disappeared a year ago and apple says too bad. i have to spend more money subscribing to apple music to get playlists, composed of songs I already paid for, to work on my phone. no wonder there are i hate apple communities. apple is driving me to them.
