Facetime not ringing for incoming calls on Macbook Pro

I switched to a new Macbook Pro last fall and used the tools to move my information/profile to my new laptop. Ever since then, Facetime does not ring if I receive a call. I can call back and it works fine. I just get no notification of someone trying to call me, but it does immediately show as a missed call. It doesn't matter if I have the app open or closed. I don't have an iphone or ipad, just the Mac pro. I have also followed all the steps online to make sure I have the correct account logged in, that I have a sound chosen, etc. Nothing has fixed this (and my mom is getting really miffed that I never hear her calling!).

Does anyone have any suggestions on what else to try? Can you uninstall and reinstall the Facetime app? I feel like that is my next step and that something was corrupted in the transfer process since Facetime has NEVER accepted a call on this new Mac.

Re: "New Macbook Pro : "Facetime does not ring if I receive a call".

Guessing you have checked "do not disturb" is not turned on, and the volume is set high enough for alerts.

Does checking through the FaceTime settings, or

switching to a different ringtone make a difference

Change General settings in FaceTime on Mac - Apple Support

You may want to make sure:

✽ your settings "Allow notifications from FaceTime"

✽ you have selected a FaceTime alert style, and

✽ "Play Sound for notifications" has been selected.

More info: Use Notification Center on Mac - Apple Support

Else: Wondering if updating to the newest available MacOS version may help:

What's new in the updates for macOS Sonoma - Apple Support

Eg: says macOS Sequoia 15.4.1

and "This update provides important bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users."

(NB: Reminder: It is always wise to back up your Mac before updating MacOS)

FaceTime generally requires a strong wi-fi signal between Apple to Apple devices

Wondering if your Mom is contacting you using cellular data or over wi-fi ... using android or Apple
