Siri no longer recognizes HomeKit rooms correctly – what can I do?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using several HomeKit-enabled smart devices at home (lights, blinds, etc.) for quite some time, and everything used to work flawlessly with Siri voice commands. I could simply say:

  • “Turn on the bedroom light”
  • “Turn off the light in the bedroom”
  • “Close the blinds in the bedroom”

Siri used to execute these commands immediately without any confusion.

Since a recent iOS update, Siri no longer works reliably:

  • It often responds with “Which room do you mean?”, even when I clearly specify the room. And it doesn’t list all rooms.

  • It also activates the wrong devices – for example, when I say “Close the blinds in the bedroom,” it closes the blinds in the living room and guest room as well.

  • Sometimes it turns on the wrong lights or opens the wrong blinds, even though the command is clear.

  • Only scenes seem to work reliably now, but that was never necessary before.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

  • Renaming devices and reassigning rooms
  • Disabling and re-enabling Siri
  • Resetting iCloud sync for HomeKit
  • Restarting the HomePod (my HomeKit hub)
  • Testing new rooms and devices

Unfortunately, nothing has resolved the issue. Has anyone else experienced this?

How can I get Siri to reliably recognize specific rooms and devices again, without having to rely on scenes for everything?

Thanks in advance for any help or ideas!
