Where are changes in the Apple Music player saved when using the iTunes.itl as library for the Music Player
Switching from a MacBook Air 2017 with Mojave to a MacBook Air 2024 with Sequoia i copied my complete iTunes map to the same spot on my MB24 (need to have the same file path for Traktor Pro 4 - see location on first pictur). On opening Apple Music player I select in the iTunes map iTunes.itl as library.
As I use 2 MacBooks for my live DJ-gigs, I want an exact copy of my music files/library on both laptops. So far I copied the iTunes map from my MB17 to my MB14. Worked perfectly (both Mojave with iTunes). After switching to MB24 copying all music files/maps to my oldest MB14 (upgraded to Big Sur) do not show the changes made in Apple Music.
Here are my questions.
1. Every time I stop Music, a new map is created. I called it Shortcut (see picture below) This contains a Music Library.musiclibrary just as I find under Music (just above shortcut - the standard map for Music)
- Why is this map created every time I save changes instead of updating the same map?
- In this scenario (iTunes.itl as library) is anything saved in Muziek/Music map?
- What is saved where in the content of Music Library.musiclibrary (be it n Muziek/Music or in the map called shortcut)
- When I copy all content of iTunes+Music+Shortcut to my MB14 and I reopen Apple Music in the MB14 linking to iTunes.itl, I can not find the changes I have made with Apple Music Player in the MB24 (eg columns of playlists, new playlists, deleted songs etc).
So far, no one of the Dutch support team could help me with these questions. I only get the suggestion to synchronise my files in the Cloud. So far I do not want to this: a) no guarantee this will work out perfectly b) due to the vast amount of data this is too expensive and c) I need to be able synchronise both MB's when I don't have a Wifi-connection available (yes, this still exists...)
I know my set-up is a rather exceptional but I need this in order not to loose more than 12 years of work in my music library and having to start all over again. If I need to do so, it will no longer be with Apple devices/software...
I hope someone could help me along with this or at least give a hint for possible solutions. Thanks
