Application error: a client-side exception...

I receive the subject line application error whenever I select an article from The Athletic in the NYT. I don’t get the error on my iPhone and access to those articles used to be seamless on my iPad. Safari is my default browser. When I switch the default to Firefox, the articles appear without a problem. My IOS is up to date. I don’t want Firefox to be my default browser. How do I fix this? I’ve tried turning JavaScript off and on. I’ve cleared my browser history and cache. TIA for your help
