where do i find the scanning software for an HO Envy 6100

I have a MacBook Air Mac OS Monterey version 12.7.6. I have purchased a new printer (HP Envy 6100e) and set it up. It is printing fine but when I try to scan it tells me I need download and install HP scanning software. I have looked on their site but cannot find this software. Please help.

You do not need to download or install anything, and even if you find something I recommend you do not install it. HP is particularly bad at implementing macOS software.

If you insist though, it wasn't difficult to find: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-envy-6100e-all-in-one-printer-series/2101795615.

I do not know if that installer includes anything related to scanning, but you don't need any third party software for that purpose. To learn how to scan images or documents please read Scan images or documents using a scanner and your Mac - Apple Support.

The HP Support page for your HP Envy 6100e is here. When you land on that page, click "Choose a different OS" (see image below):

On the resulting page select macOS 12. You will then get a page titled "Install HP Smart app to complete setup and support." On that page there are instructions to install the HP Smart app from the App Store. Click the button that says "Install from App Store." After HP Smart installs, run it to download & install the drivers for your printer/scanner.

I have done this on other HP printers and it works fine.
