Passwords app incorrectly tells me I am reusing password elsewhere

My iOS 18.4 app incorrectly tells me I am using the password elsewhere. These falsely flagged items do not show in the security section. This did not show in the the previous iOS version.

OK, but what APP specifically is it saying you are reusing a password? The Password app itself, holds the passwords for your apps and accounts.


The app that is reporting this (duplicates) is the Apple Passwords app.


As for the OP, maybe make an appointment with Apple Support and bring it in for a look?


This to confirm whether there’s a duplicate password hiding somewhere, or if the Passwords app has a bug.

Hi. I'm having the same problem as you (all my passwords without username are flagged as compromised). I even created a thread like yours (you even answered there - Bug in Passwords app: passwords without u… - Apple Community). Now, I have an update: I discovered that I had a password without username that was really compromised (I checked on other platforms; that password appeared in the security section too) and, because I had already deleted that account, I moved that password to the deleted section. As soon as I did that, all the passwords without username that were earlier flagged as compromised were normal again. So, I think this is happening when we already have a password that was really compromised ou easy to guess.


Do you know if, when you updated to iOS 18.4, you already had any password without a username that was truly flagged as reused?

Are you Using the Passwords App?:

If you are seeing this in the Passwords App, then look at the password, and make sure it is correct.

  1. Go to: Passwords app
  2. Tap: All on the top-left corner of the screen
  3. Tap: [the app name]
  4. Tap: the password
  5. Tap: Edit
  6. Change: the password to what to should be
  7. Tap: Save
