How to resolve issues with Apple Trade in evaluation?

I have used Apple trade in several times with nothing but satisfactory results. Until now that is. I very recently mailed in my iPad Air 5th generation for a newer 11” iPad Air with the M3 chip. My trade in was just 2 years old and as I take good care of my things, this iPad was no exception. It was in pristine condition when I sent it somewhere in Indiana to be processed and inspected by a third party Apple contracts. After more than 2 weeks, I received a notice my iPad had multiple issues with the display and was given a $0.00 rebate! What could have happened from the iPad I sent in pristine condition to the one described in the message?? I’m at a loss here. My iPad had a 2 minute lock to PREVENT screen burn as well as a tempered glass protector to keep it scratch free. So what’s Apple doing to protect their integrity with this trade in program? I know my iPad was in excellent condition when it was sent out. What was done to it after it was received is a mystery that cost me a $265 trade in.

You do not have to accept the trade in value. And, you might have better luck in store. It’s also possible it was damaged in transit.

Sent iPad March 4th. Received message on March 29th that trade in was revised to $0.00 due to screen damage. Stated” LCD displays burn in damage/streaks/discoloration across screen.”

As I previously stated, I do not leave my screen on other than while using it. Other than that, it’s off because I am well aware of burnout from leaving one screen on for prolonged periods of time. I have no idea where the “streaks/discoloration comes from. The screen was bright and “streaks free” when I sent it in.

I contacted Apple the day I received the notice of refusal to honor trade in value. Was told Apple would contact me within 72 hours. And no, Apple has not returned the call.

I am going to reach out on my social media site to see if this has happened to others with the same issue as this.

I previously traded in a 4 year old iPad when I ordered the iPad Air 5 and received a very honest rebate from Apple. I had no reason to believe this 2 year old was any different as I know how to care for my electronics and it was 2 years younger! As I said, what happened to this iPad after it was received is a total mystery or a just plain scam. I spoke with “someone “ at Apple about it who said she would send my concern to someone else…but have not received any response back. Shocking, I know. I am so disappointed with Apple at this time.
