Safari Slow, Lags, Quits, Terrible

For the last year or so, Safari has gone downhill. The biggest problem I have is it just stops working altogether. I have to quit the window and start all over. Also, at times, it is SO slow. I find myself having to open up Chrome, which I don't love. I don't even know why I keep hoping something will change. Is there any way to fix this or has Apple just dropped the ball on this browser?

Safari is running fine here, which suggests something amiss with your particular Mac or the way it's configured.


Start with If Safari doesn't open a page or work as expected on your Mac.


For all I know Chrome may be a contributing factor. If you installed Chrome, then you installed all of Google's system-altering, automatically updating, constantly running processes. They can interfere with everything you do. Not surprisingly they won't affect Google's browser product.
